Southwest Detroit Greenway
Take your bike, inline skates or running shoes out to the developing Southwest Detroit Greenway for a smooth, asphalt-paved trail connecting the Fort Street Bascule Bridge to the River Walk. Currently three miles long, when completed this recreation trail will feature even more bike lanes, streetscaping and wayfinding along the West Vernor segment.

Detroit River Walk
Enjoy a leisurely walk or jog along the breathtaking Detroit RiverWalk. This scenic 5 and ½ mile promenade follows the Detroit International Riverfront from the landmark Ambassador Bridge to Belle Isle Park. See some of the best sights in the city as you travel this greenway. Make sure to stop along the many parks and plaza connected by it as well!

Paint Creek Trail
The Paint Creek Trail in Rochester, a Detroit suburb, offers guests a gorgeous landscape and a wonderfully paved recreation trail. Perfect for walking, running, biking, skating and anything in-between, this former railway bed was the first rail-to-trail project in the state. The 8-foot wide paved trail stretches for nine miles and has plenty of free parking nearby.

Wayne County Family Aquatic Center
Visit the only official water park in the city. Wayne County Family Aquatic Center , also known as the Family Aquatic Center, offers Detroit residents and guests the perfect place to enjoy water recreation and cool down when the heat of summer rolls around. Splash around in the wave pool, go down two water slides and let the children have fun in their own special activity pool.

Belle Isle Park
While not a water park, Belle Isle Park offers a bit of sun and surf along its beach. Half a mile of the five mile shoreline is designated as a recreational swimming area, and there is a large water slide that opens during the summer months. For $3, you can ride the slide into the water as much as you like.

WIlliam G. Milliken State Park & Harbor
The wetlands of the William G. Milliken State Park and Harbor are actually a great place to cool down during the summer. Enjoy some fishing from the shore or wading along the shallows. You can even bring or rent a boat to take out into the Detroit River for further aquatic recreation.
